It’s a pleasure to introduce the new Wireframe Sofa designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin from London based studio Industrial Facility. Some of you may be familiar with it if you attended REACH Singapore, where it made its Asia Pacific debut. The sofa continues our own design story through the use of the shaped wire frame, referencing the archetypal chairs of our heritage. The contoured cushions held within the wire frame also benefit from Herman Miller’s history through the use of a trampoline-like suspension technology, originally created to provide added comfort and support for the Healthcare industry.

Overall the design speaks of contrasting tensions, a re-curring theme in Sam Hecht and Kim Colin’s designs. The formal structure of the wire frame in conjunction with the softness of the cushions creates a visual and physical lightness. It was designed with flexibility in mind and the separation of the cushions from the frame makes it easily maintained, adaptable and able to fit through a standard size doorway. The range includes a single, double and three-seater sofa and ottoman in a range of fabrics with a black or white frame. This is the latest design from our ongoing collaboration with Industrial Facility, whom you may also be familiar with for their Mattiazzi Branca Chair, another piece in the Herman Miller Collection.
